According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) annual report, Breast Augmentation remained the top cosmetic surgery procedure in 2013. With a slight increase of 1% over 2012 approximately 2900 more breast augmentations were preformed. This was closely followed by eyelid surgery and liposuction.
Liposuction saw a slight decrease in the number of procedures.
This decrease may be caused by alternative non-invasive fat treatment procedures that have become more widely available. Non-invasive fat treatment procedures have some advantages such as a lower cost, less down time and usually no anesthesia. However, liposuction is currently still much more effective at reducing multiple layers of fat as well as targeting specific fat deposits.
